Title: Pretty Little Liars

Author: Sara Shepard
Publisher: HarperTeen

Publication Date: October 1, 2006

Pages: 286
From Goodreads:
Everyone has something to hide—especially high school juniors Spencer, Aria, Emily, and Hanna. Spencer covets her sister’s boyfriend. Aria’s fantasizing about her English teacher. Emily’s crushing on the new girl at school. Hanna uses some ugly tricks to stay beautiful. But they’ve all kept an even bigger secret since their friend Alison vanished. How do I know? Because I know everything about the bad girls they were, the naughty girls they are, and all the dirty secrets they’ve kept. And guess what? I’m telling.
So after being completely sucked into the PLL TV show, I decided I had to read the books.  I had to see if the PLL show stayed true to the books, and if they would entice me as much as the show.
Ding ding ding…we have a winner! I would classify this book as a total guilty pleasure – not exactly the most intellectually stimulating (which I didn’t expect anyways), but the drama and the plot twists and mystery were so fun to read. It was an incredibly fast read, even with me analyzing different characters and storylines against the show. So far, the show has kept fairly close to the books, but with enough differences and changes to adapt better to a wider television audience.
I’m glad I jumped the gun and bought the first 7 books before even reading the first book, because now I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. I can see me and my copy of Flawless at the beach this weekend for sure :)
