My second foray into the zombie world proved to be another win - go Carrie Ryan! I should have paid more attention to those little words at the top of the cover (a companion novel to The Forest of Hands and Teeth) because it would have saved me a good 25 pages of confusion. But not to worry, I figured it out and got it together. And once I did, I was in for another roller coaster ride.

Gabry was very similar to Mary in the TFOHAT and both possessed the same qualities I really enjoy - bravery, determination, and strength. Even with all of her positive qualities, Gabry still made mistakes and second-guessed herself, just like regular people do. This is what endears me to Carrie Ryan's characters - even in the midst of a zombie-infested world, she still creates very human and real characters.

I will say that I wasn't as big a fan of the love triangle in The Dead-Tossed Waves as I have been of other triangles. I did love Catcher though, and the supporting characters made me forget about the love triangle for the most part. 

I will definitely be reading The Dark and Hollow Places and will be sad to see this series end. If you haven't jumped into the zombie world, I highly suggest starting out with this series.
