I am a huge, huge fan of the Iron Fey series, so when I heard there was a fourth book coming out told from Ash’s point of view, I knew I needed to get my hands on a copy. Luckily, NetGalley and Harlequin Teen released The Iron Knight and I jumped at the chance to read it.

Going into this book, I couldn’t help but semi-compare it to Midnight Sun in the Twilight series. Obviously the two series are totally different, but I really liked the idea of switching it up and changing how the story was told.

While The Iron Knight was not my favorite book in the series (that award stays with The Iron Queen), I still really enjoyed it. Since the synopsis gives very little info about the story, let me try to give you a brief and spoiler-free summary. Basically, Ash goes on a journey to find something and Puck and Grimalkin join in on the trip. They face loads of obstacles, monsters, and trials along the way and there are a ton of surprises thrown into the mix.

For the first half of the book, Ash sort of irritated me. He was quite whiny, not charming at all (which is what I loved about him in the other books), and got on my nerves. However, once I got to a particular part in the story, all of that changed. The story took on a whole new life and I frantically sped through the last half to see what happened in the end. My heart ached for Ash and the ending threw me into a tailspin of emotions that completely redeemed the first part of the book for me.

If you choose to read The Iron Knight, be prepared for a different tone that may take you off guard for a while, but then might surprise you in the end. For me, it was well worth it :)

  3. Ash is so annoying but I love him anyway! I think it was important to knock him off his pedestal a bit with this book...

  5. My favorite of the series is a tie between Iron Daughter and Iron Queen with the former squeaking out just a little bit ahead because of the Meghan/Ash angst in the beginning. I love me some romantic tension.
