From Goodreads:

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old-girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

This is going to be one of those reviews that I will never be happy with because this book is just GAH. Nothing I say can convey how truly AMAZING this book is. So here is my attempt at a coherent review, chock full of squeeing, fan-girly ranting.

From the very first pages I was instantly taken with the beautiful, poetic writing style that just flows out of Tahereh Mafi. Along with her gorgeous style comes the totally unique aspect of the strikethroughs through Juliette’s thoughts that are not vocalized out loud. They added such an awesome dimension to the story that I found myself almost reading too fast to see what happens next.

And the story – holy adventure, tension, anticipation, romance, intrigue, and excitement all wrapped up into just a few hundred pages. The character development was out of this world and I just couldn’t get enough of every single character, no matter how good, evil, hot, deceiving, or awesome they were. Juliette absolutely mesmerized me – her pure and unedited thoughts were simply beautiful. And of course, we are introduced to yet another amazing Adam in YA fiction!

And speaking of Juliette and Adam… holy freaking sexy times!! They have one of the most steamy, sensual relationships I have ever read. I had to fan myself at frequent intervals and even that didn’t cool me down.
I can’t even tell you how stoked I am that this will be a trilogy because I need MORE. RIGHT NOW. Shatter Me isn’t even released yet and I’m in agony waiting for the next book.
Final thoughts – YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK. End of story :)
